My name is Hernán Pérez, I am a AEC member ( Spanish Society of Cinematographers ), and I bring over two decades of experience as a Director of Photography and Director to the industry.

My extensive professional journey has taken me to more than 85 cities worldwide, allowing me to capture the cinematic world while immersing myself in diverse cultures and environments. I have also had the privilege of residing and working in vibrant cities such as London and New York.

In 2007, I made the decision to return to Spain, where my focus shifted primarily towards observational documentaries and film projects. Embracing this direction, I have passionately pursued projects that authentically capture the essence of human driven stories.

Throughout my career, I have lead guerrilla crews and managed large departments, always ensuring that everyone is happy while efficiently completing the work. I take great pleasure in listening to the needs of the Director and the story, and then providing them with the right creative ideas.

If I were to select a project that best represents my work as a Director of Photography today, it would be “GEO. Beyond the limit.” This two-year-long endeavour involved observing and documenting without intervening, resulting in a compelling visual narrative. It was a project that earned recognition at the PRODU AWARDS (Ibero-American EMMYS), winning the Best Director and Best Documentary Series categories, while my work as a Director of Photography was nominated.

Also, my work has been recognized with nominations and awards at international events such as the Emmy Awards, Al Jazeera Documentary Festival, Produ Iberoamérica, London Independent Film Awards, Austin Spotlight Festival, Meraki Film Festival, and La Jolla Film Festival, among others.
